Dr. Anoopkumar is currently heading as Dean (R & D) of SMEC .His research area is High Temperature formability of Titanium alloys for Aerospace applications. He is an active member of Society of Failure Analysis India, Indian Society of Mechanical Engineering and ISTE. He is reviewer of many journals such as Journal of Engineering Science and Technology, School of Engineering, Taylor’s University Malaysia, The Open Mechanical Engineering Journal and Jordon Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (JJMIE).

He has been honored with BINANI Gold Medal Award on the occasion of 53rd National Metallurgist Day celebrations in the year 2015 at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu for research paper published on formability of Titanium alloys for his untiring research work on Titanium Alloys at DRDO. He is also recipient of Railway Boards First Prize with Gold Medal, awarded at 27th Indian Engineering Congress, Chief Guest President of India Honorable Pranab Mukherjee at VigyanBhavan New Delhi on 14 Dec 2012 for research paper. Alsohe has won many such prestigious awards such as Best Teacher Award and Fund Raiser Award on the occasion of Teachers Day.

He has mobilised Rs.21,46,000/ funds for Research Project on Analysis of High Temperature Formability of Titanium Alloys under Optimized Tribological Conditions at Elevated Temperature for Aeronautical Products Applications, approved by Science and Engineering Research Board, Govt. of India. He has delivered many guest lectures/ talks on technology development and optimization techniques at different organizations such as Bharat Dynamics Limited, a Govt. of India Enterprise, Hyderabad and other Engineering colleges.

The faculties of various departments are actively pursuing research in their respective technical departments. In the academic year 2017-18 our faculty published more than 638 research papers in various national and international conferences and journals. A few of our senior students also, contributed by publishing research papers in international conferences.

Presently 34 faculties are registered with various universities and are pursuing research leading to Ph.D. Faculty and students have jointly developed many products and systems with their in-house research effort.

A few research projects currently in hand are.3 D Printing, Abrasive Jet Machining, High Temperature formability testing, The mechanical student where awarded with best project in Rural Innovation Start Up enclave Aug 2018 for project Automatic vending machine of Hygienic Napkins as an innovation STREE SWASTHA. Other projects are Cloud computing, web Technologies, Data analysis, Speech recognition, Embedded system , Data mining, Information security, Big Data Digital Image Processing. Our students received several awards and prizes for display of their research products. Typically i) First prize at Osmania University on Structural Model Making ii) Another prize on similar exhibition conducted by A.P State Irrigation Department at their training and Research Centre WALAMTARI. CSE students got best project award’ Power Spy” in JNTUH HUB in2018-2019.

The college conducted Technology Awareness Month (TAM) during 05 January2018 to 02 February 2018. The visiting faculty disseminated various state of art technology through their expert lecture of specialization. Students of respective streams visited National Remote Sensing Centre, High Voltage Electrical Power Substation, A.P.
